Formation of contractile and nutritional roots of  Scilla sibirica Haw. and Allium sativum L..

Some biennial and perennial plants have an ability to immerse into the soil with its hibernate part. Immersion is carried out with the help of root contraction. Contractile roots are divided into specialized and usual. Specialized contractile roots are peculiar to Liliales plants mostly. We established that Scilla sibirica Haw. seeds sprout at the same time with renewal of spring vegetation of Allium sativum L. The root of a sprout and autumn roots of Allium sativum L. are nutritional. In a month after germination formation of contractile roots begins. Plants Scilla sibirica Haw. form one contractile root mainly. In some cases older plants of advanced ages can form up to 4 contractile roots. Ring like wrinkles testifying to roots' contraction appear on the specialized roots on the beginning of leaves fading and roots dying off. The root  compresses in the direction from the bottom of a bulb downwards, involving  bulbs deeply into ground. Bulbs glades Scilla sibirica Haw. already in the first year of life due to reduction of a unique root are immersed in ground on the average on 3 cm. By the beginning of August contractile roots gradually die off. In the middle of September nutritional roots with which plants winter appear on the bulbs again. First nutritional roots appear on the bulbs of Allium sativum L. planted in the beginning of November. Growing during the early-spring period is provided with nutritional roots of autumn term formation. In a month after renewal of spring vegetation contractile roots formed at plants of  Allium sativum L. of an aggregate number up to 50-70 piece on a plant. After 2 month of vigorous activity of the involving roots bulbs taking to account planting closings are immersed in ground on the average depth of 9 cm.
