Biology of Dryland Plants

Lopez-Portillo, Jorge [1], Ewers, Frank W. [2].

The biology of dryland plants: Summary and discussion of the proceedings.

Highlights of each talk will be reviewed. The structural and functional features particular to plants in these habitats are noted. The degree to which structures, functions and habitat limitations can be correlated will indicate where adaptations are clearly demonstrated and where further research is needed. In other ecological scales, the discussion will be enriched with recent advances on topics related to plant biodiversity and conservation, distribution, reproductive biology, and demography. Finally, other important aspects to discuss will be related to invasive plants, bioprospecting and domestication in a context of sustainability.
