Emphasizing Botany across the Curriculum Shipman, J. S. [1], Velazquez, Ada I. [2]. Learning from Plants in the Boston Schools. Boston area k-12 teachers will present on teaching and learning using activities and experiments involved with seed development, environmental aspects of plant growth, economic botany and food production, multicultural teaching with plants from temperate and tropical regions, and use of plants for experimental design. The Rigby On Our Way to English 2, From Farm to You , with ELL (English Language Learners), as well as teacher-developed materials, will be presented by the panel. Other k-12 teachers and college faculty are encouraged to participate. Expected outcomes include 1) better understanding of the different levels of teaching and learning and 2) increased botany brought back to the k-12 schools.
