Genetics Section Burrell, Millie [1], Pepper, Alan [1]. Molecular resources for population-genetic and functional ecological-genetic studies in the Streptanthoid Complex of genera (Brassicaceae). The ±57 taxa of the Streptanthoid Complex, Brassicaceae (Streptanthus, Caulanthus, Guillenia and Streptanthella) of western North America show adaptation to a remarkable diversity of environments, including a wide range of edaphic substrates, rainfall regimes, and plant communities. This group also shows a remarkable diversity of floral and vegetative morphologies. Many of these taxa are rare or endemic, while approximately half are considered threatened or endangered at either the state or federal level. We are developing PCR-based molecular markers for use as tools in population-genetic and functional ecological-genetic studies of taxa in this group. The resources under development include an extensive microsatellite collection and SNP-based markers derived from genes that have been implicated in Arabidopsis thaliana and other plants for adaptation to growing environment. We will show the application of these markers to a wide range of species in the Streptanthoid complex. Log in to add this item to your schedule
