Ecological Section Koether, Steven [1], Williams, Justin [1]. Functional Significance of the Apical Anther Appendage in Pentalinon andrieuxii (Apocynaceae, Apocynoideae). Recent cladistic analysis indicates that an evolved floral character, an apical anther appendage, in the family Apocynaceae has arisen independently in three separate genera (Nerium, Pentalinon, and Tintinnabularia). The focus of this project is to determine through field observations (Barra del Tordo, Tamaulipas, Mexico) the pollination mechanics of Pentalinon andrieuxii. This study also focuses on determining the function of the apical anther appendages by a comparative analysis of the pollination syndromes in Nerium oleander. Log in to add this item to your schedule
