Physiological Section Thorhaug, Anitra [1]. Laguna Madre, TX. 75-Acre Halodule Restoration. In the north-central Laguna Madre, Texas, 35 acres of seagrass were disturbed by propeller during a storm. The restoration mandated for these acres included filling both a channel and propeller scar hole, and scrape down of a dredged-up island, plus restoring 75 acres of Halodule. The restored acres of plugs at 1m intervals remain as meadows and continue to grow laterally and in density 6 years after planting Presently they equal more than 78 acres at three sites, including 90% Halodule and some Halophila .The shallow sites (0.3-0.6m) regrew in year 1. The medium depths (1-1.2m) grew laterally more slowly, but coalesced densely within years 2-3. Deep sites (1.4-1.8m) grew more slowly and survived somewhat less, but continue to equal control unperturbed areas at similar depths. Survival after 1 year was greater than 70% overall.
