Emphasizing Botany across the Curriculum

Oxley, Flo [1], Brueggerhoff, Stephen B. [1], Pinchot IV, Gifford [1].

Educating the Educator.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center offers a number of opportunities for educators to learn how to incorporate native plants into their curricula. The Wildflower Center’s native plant-based curriculum, Exploring the Native Plant World, provides fun, hands-on, science-based activities for students preK-6th grade. Curriculum training workshops train educations how to use curriculum activities, both off site and at their schools, familiarizes them with the Wildflower Center’s gardens and grounds, and trains them to use the 15-acre gardens and natural areas as a living laboratory. In additional, educators acquire the skills and confidence necessary to comfortably lead their students on outdoor explorations.
