Regional Botany Special Lecture

Cheatham, Scooter [1].

The Useful Wild Plants of Texas Project.

Scooter Cheatham, founder of the Useful Wild Plants of Texas Project and president of Useful Wild Plants, Inc. (UWP, Inc.), a non-profit corporation, will speak on this 34 year project to document over 3,500 different Texas plants and their past, present, and future importance. The slide presentation will address how Texas' political boundaries capture an extraordinarily diverse flora, with intersecting vegetational regions representing much of North America, and how we need to be stewards of the often overlooked biological and botanical wealth found in our own backyards.
